Child-Safe Advent Candles

My three year old just loves candles and has been asking me to pull out our pink and purple for candles for nearly a month after she saw pictures of some Advent candles in Leaflet Missal.  Last year it was impossible to have the Advent wreath at a level the children could see and feel safe around the open flames . . . so this year I've purchase battery operated Advent candles that look like the real thing!  Now we can have our Advent wreath where the kids can see it and it will be safe for our children.  

Jesse Tree

We have a Jesse tree themed Advent wreath which ties into our Jesse tree that we decorate with hand-made ornaments.

We don't watch TV and only watch a very limited selection of movies.  Our favorites are from the Brother Francis series.  The Children are particularly interested in Brother Francis, O Holy Night.  It is very cute and based exactly on Scripture, teaching children the real reason for Christmas.  We also bought the CD called The King is Born, which includes some of the songs from the Brother Francis DVD just for kids.    

 What better way to prepare for the birth of our Lord than a manger scene Advent calendar?
