Saint Stick Puppets
A great way to teach children about the many saints is by making simple puppets. What we did was cut out the saint pictures from statue images in the Leaflet Missal catalog and glued them onto foam sheets with Elmer's glue. When they were dry we cut around the foam and glued the image onto a craft stick. It's a great way for children to memorize their saints and fun for play. I like to use them to preview a reading from our Picture Book of Saints. I have also used images of medals in Leaflet Missal and glued them onto foam backing to make a simple necklace for preschoolers. My children love stringing beads, so we strung beads and then hung the "medal" in the middle of the necklace and they were so proud to be wearing an image of Mary and Jesus!
